SUMMARY:

The role of a Business Banker is to actively develop new loan and deposit opportunities for the bank, identify cross sell opportunities, and manage a portfolio of credits. Strong skills in communication, financial analysis and sales are an integral part of this position.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively maintain sales activities that support the sales goals for loan and deposit growth and maintain a pipeline that supports those goals, including cross sale opportunities within the organization.
  • Manage an existing commercial portfolio, to include performing annual renewals, annual reviews on term debt, and cross-selling
  • Lender is expected to be proactive in identifying, managing, and offering solutions for the assets in their portfolio, to include criticized assets
  • Present highly organized, detailed credit memos for conventional loans ranging from commercial real estate to lines of credit
  • Spread financial statements and perform credit analysis using standard analytical programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with clients and banking colleagues
  • Participates in community and business functions to ensure a positive image for the Bank
  • Use sound judgment in determining potential clients/deals. Structure deals appropriately to balance risk and reward. Present concerns and solutions to mitigate potential future risk
  • Structure and negotiate complex loans and/or agreements to include the terms, pricing, special conditions, and interest rates for commercial loans
  • Make presentations to loan committee and oversee the documentation and closing process
  • Demonstrate ownership in all aspects of the position
  • Other duties as presented related to managing the Bank’s loan and deposit portfolio

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND

  • Minimum commercial lending experience of 2 years
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Bank has a strong SBA platform; SBA knowledge/experience is desired but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
