Every year, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital partners with builders across the country for a one of a kind event that’s a true win-win for all those involved – The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. The Colorado Springs Dream Home is built with donations of time, materials, and funds from companies throughout the community.
This is the 7th Annual St. Jude giveaway in Colorado Springs. For the past five years, Covington Homes has built the dream home for St. Jude, and for the past four years, the house has been built at zero cost allowing 100% of ticket proceeds to go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Helping locally, nationally and globally
St. Jude is a unique organization. While they are physically headquartered in Tennessee, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital helps children and families from all across the country- including children like Kaylee Chavez from right here in Colorado. Kaylee was diagnosed with brain cancer at a very young age. Her parents were devastated by the diagnosis and overwhelmed at what this would mean for her and the entire family.
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food—because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. And that’s just what Kaylee and her family did. Thanks to the care she received at St. Jude, Kaylee was able to beat the cancer and she’s now a high school freshman in Colorado Springs.
Because St. Jude freely shares their discoveries, every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands more children. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading in the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
A win-win
In a typical year, the Dream Home is open to the public for tours. However, 2020 has been anything but a typical year and in person tours won’t be available this year. And while there’s nothing quite like an in-person walk through, we promise that this home is worth the ticket purchase.
As a St. Jude Dream Home sponsor, the Central Bancorp team was able to get a sneak peek and tour the house as the final touches were being put in place. We were blown away! For a $100 ticket purchase, participants have a chance to win this beautiful 4,000 square foot, 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom home.
The house is energy efficient, located in a beautiful and growing neighborhood, and has a kitchen set up that any professional chef would envy. Only 9,250 tickets will be sold in hopes of raising $925,000 dollars for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
